«The cargo (CRYOGENIC NITROGEN PACKAGE and HP INSTRUMENT AIR COMPRESSOR PACKAGE) was shipped from Italy to Oman’s Duqm Refinery, based in Al Duqm, around 600 km south of Muscat. It is a strategic investment for the Sultanate of Oman and will form the cornerstone of the Duqm Special Economic Zone, Oman’s next industrial center. The development occupies more than 2,000 acres and, when completed, will have the capacity to process around 230,000 barrels of crude oil per day. Diesel, jet fuel, naptha and LPG will be its primary products. The consignee, Petrofac International Limited, in a 50/50 joint venture with Samsung Engineering, was awarded the EPC package 2 contract worth approximately US$2 billion.
