«The cargo (2 Runners and accessories in 5 packages) was supplied and shipped by ANDRITZ Hydro, a global supplier of electromechanical systems and services (“from water-to-wire“) for hydropower plants and one of the leaders in the world market for hydraulic power generation. The company elaborates long-living, environmentally friendly and economically efficient solutions for hydraulic power generation, while maintaining the natural environment, mankind, and technology in perfect harmony. The cargo was ordered by Bangladesh Power Development Board, a public-sector organization responsible for planning and developing the nation’s power infrastructure and for operating much of its power generation facilities. To face future energy demands from industry, BPDB is looking to expand hydropower capacity. One of its ongoing projects is rehabilitation works at Karnafuli Hydro Power Station, the only hydropower plant in the country located at 65 km upstream from Chittagong, Rangamati District. Kaptai Karnafuli, featuring six 48 MW units, is a large hydro project. ANDRITZ is the OEM supplier for three of these units. Currently, the company is undertaking the renovation and modernization of units #1 and #2, a contract which was awarded to ANDRITZ via a competitive international bid process. Commissioning of the project is expected by the end of 2020. «
